Taxis

Taxis - (GR)

Dimitris Trimintzios a.k.a.’Taxis’ was born in Szczecin, Poland in 1983 to a Polish art/cultural historian mother and a Greek etcher/painter father. Growing up in Athen he was introduced to the world of art from a very young age, which developed Dimitris’ an urge to find a way to express himself. At the age of 14, he became familiar with the art of graffiti, giving him the excitement needed in order to try it.

He is involved with graffiti since 1997, which includes walls, bombs, trains etc. He also entered into comics in 2003. He has been awarded several times in comic competitions. and collaborated with newspapers, magazines and books as an illustrator. He studied painting in the School of Fine Arts of Athens and graduated with first-class degree in 2008. Taxis’ point of reference is the human himself. He is intrigued by the everyday inner struggle that society forces each individual to go through.

In his art he aims to capture the feelings of desolation and hardship, feelings that have always tormented humanity. He objects to stability so he always tests out every thought that he finds absorbing. He uses a wide variety of materials and techniques both to challenge himself and to discover new potentials. He paints murals but also focuses on his work on canvas and paper at his studio in Athens, where he lives. The body of work Taxis presents a is a series of black/white and colour studies which focus on the human condition, drawing from people in his own familiar environment.
