Public Provocations 2021 - Colab Gallery

Public Provocations

On September 18th, Colab Gallery opens this year's group exhibition  "PUBLIC PROVOCATIONS", which is dedicated to the thematic focus of contemporary
urban art.Corona is still an existential challenge for urban art as well.

Not only have exhibitions and commissions had to be postponed or completely cancelled. It is above all the travel restrictions that make life difficult for this highly mobile and international scene. We are all the happier that after one and a half years of Corona-related uncertainty, planning insecurity and restrictions, we have succeeded in inviting eight extraordinarily talented artists to the Colab Gallery.

With a focus on European artists, we are simultaneously bringing back our popular exhibition series PUBLIC PROVOCATIONS. This group exhibition, with its focus on contemporary urban art, has been conceived as a groundbreaking and competent accompaniment to the art events surrounding Art Basel since its first edition in 2009.

The participating artists of PUBLIC PROVOCATIONS enjoy full thematic freedom. They should be able to concentrate entirely on their personal art, their visions and ideas. The Colab Gallery prepares an optimal stage for them to realise even challenging presentations.

After months of individual preparation and work in their studios at home, the following eight artists will come together for four days in Weil am Rhein in mid-September. The plan is to set up expansive installations and wall paintings. These will be accompanied by spectacular canvas and paper works, as well as sculptures.

We are pleased to present ONUR DINC (SWITZERLAND), GREMS (FRANCE), FRUIT OF THE LUMP (POLAND), TONY STAR (SERBIA), RIOT 1394 (AUSTRIA), theYOUNG (GERMANY), POLLO 7 (SWITZERLAND), and STOM 500 (FRANCE)

We as a gallery are aware of our responsibility and would like to continue to protect you, our artists and ourselves as a team from Corona.

Therefore, we ask for the observance of the 3G rule (entry only for tested, vaccinated or recovered persons) this evening as well as the mask requirement throughout the building. We take the liberty of checking this at the entrance area before entering the building and hope for your understanding. Of course, self-tests are also available.

We are very much looking forward to your visit, let us spend a nice and safe evening together.
