Mauro 'Muretz' is a Brazilian artist mostly known for his graffiti and street art work. He was born in São Paulo but grew up in the country side. At the age of 17 he got expelled from school for depicting ‘indecent art’. Soon he had to start earning a living, doing exactly what got him kicked out: drawing. Few years later young Muretz enrolled into college, which only got him frustrated. Soon he abandoned the course in disgust. Wandering around, he finally left his home country with his little savings and travelled to the UK where he got stablished as an artist for over 5 years. After returning from exile and back to Brazil, Muretz started painting on the streets. His graffiti works have been featured on many art publications around the world. The artist currently lives in São Paulo city and travels the globe wherever his skills are demanded.
The canvases on display at Public Provocations were created in the process of painting the mural itself. They thus give visitors the unique opportunity to permanently capture a part of the temporary exhibition.
